One of the best options for North Indian food in Pune. Kadhi Chawal followed by a Gulab Jamun is a ritual I have been doing here for many years now. Yet to have a better Gulab Jamun that this.

Pune has always been a hub for education and India’s ever growing services industry. So it naturally attracts people from all parts of the country. North Indians form a major chunk of it. So places serving North Indian food in Pune have grown enormously. One place that stands out of this array of restaurants is Delhi Swad.

Delhi Swad serves various Parathas, Chole Bhature and Chaat items. The parathas here are giant ones and a plate consist of only one piece. And one is enough. You can even have a meal or a dinner here. The menu for meals is very simple and sounds so much like Delhi. Just pick a curry out of Chole, Rajma, Aloo Mutter or Kadhi and guzzle it down with rice. You can equally enjoy it with Chapathi. I particularly like the Kadhi. It’s great in consistency, perfect on spices and has a right balance of tastes. Sweet, sour, tangy, spicy and creamy too. Put an end to this extraordinary feast with their mind blowing Gulab Jamun.

Gulab jamun here is to die for. Each piece is perfectly round and exactly same in colour and texture. A mouthful of finely fried khoya soaked in sugar syrup is something you would lazily keep in your mouth, something you would not let go down to belly, something that will make you shout loud “This is how Gulab jamun is made.”

Another great dessert that needs mention here is Thandi Kheer. It’s a small magical cup of Rice Kheer (porridge) with loads of dry fruits and nuts in it. The beauty is in it’s moderate sweetness and cooled just perfectly. This effort taken while preparing dishes to achieve such fine balance of tastes is remarkable and something that makes me visit again and again. Perhaps one of the best North Indian food in Pune.
