Ram ki Bandi is popular late night food in Hyderabad – Piping Hot Idlis, Chutney and Dosas are the go for dishes. Although, what wins heart is the generosity in pouring ghee and cheese. Can’t call it a cheap place to eat though.

Ask any random guy on the streets of Hyderabad where Ram ki Bandi is located. He will promptly point you to the main square in the densely packed area of Nampally. Chances are it will be closed if you ask in the daylight. It’s only when if you are looking for late night food in Hyderabad, you may stumble upon this place. Ram Shinde – the owner – by which the name Ram ki Bandi goes, works between strange hours from 3:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

Symbolic to late night food in Hyderabad, this place is for the nocturnal.

Such is the popularity of this food joint, people start flooding the Nampally street by 2-2:30AM. Way before Ram Shinde himself comes. So of course his entry is no less than a Tollywood hero. Lots of young and hungry souls start rushing towards the cart to place their order first. And a chanting of “Ram Bhai” is a common thing then. The rush in the initial one hour is so high that it really takes skill and experience to place an order within a reasonable time. That’s how you can spot the local frequenters.

And the reason behind people going gaga is the lip smacking, breath taking, awe striking- idlis and dosas at Ram ki Bandi. Idlis here are comparatively easier to get given the crowd at this late night eatery. These luscious bundles dipped in his signature chutney with tons of ghee are stairway to heaven. And being comparatively healthier, they make for a great option for midnight food in Hyderabad

The chutney comes directly from heaven. So does the Dosa. That selfless cheese square melting down on the vast spread of Dosa to please our palates is indeed a sentimental moment.

Ram Shinde has specifically modified the traditional recipes to satiate the modern taste buds. And Ram ki Bandi successfully makes wonders on the tongue in the late night, when it’s yet dark and deep, everyone around is struggling to wake up (or sleep) and moon is yet to settle down…

Complementary :

Bandi stands for food cart. From an humble hand pulled cart to a posh restaurant, (Ram’s Dosa House at Jubille Hills) they have come a long way. Ram Shinde, an MBA grad himself epitomizes the story book rise of businesses.
